ha
you're a stick off the old block mike ! he will Love it
blackdog: Only if he sees it ;o)
I think you left the stick there to metaphorically hit him with.
;-) richard
blackdog: Found object ;o) but still sounds like a good idea! Amazing how no one parked in the space!
Martin Parr recently published a book based on empty parking spaces, I suppose you can do that if you are a Magnum photographer. You are obviously having a metaphysical period at the moment. I like the sticks, a bit of Native American symbolism.
blackdog: Yes I was referring to Martin Parr with the photograph - and this was truly found as is and not set up. The most amazing part being that the car park was full, yet people still avoided the space!
X marks the spot.
blackdog: Indeed it does Ian - almost my choice of title ;o)
Should you have selected red for the sticks, we would have known who this parking space was reserved for!
Fine shot Mike.
blackdog: I think that would be a twiddle too far for me Richard - it would have to be crossed red boots ;o)
Thank you, Sir Blackdog. Great title (yes I did say that). Is there a chadian focus issue here, Mike, or is it simply ageing?
blackdog: Probably a bit of both - lets just call it reserved!
I do hope he has a roof that can be slide open or I just have to lend him my can-opener...JUST love it, I wonder why those two sticks are laying there, does he have to make those in small pieces and mark his route so he can find his parking place back...if he gets out of is car of course.
You see Mike, those simple shots always kind of make my mind start working, all kind of possibilities come into my mind. Have a great weekend.
blackdog: Very surprised at the reaction to this shot - just caught my eye on the way back to the car and then realised the car park was full - people can be so superstitious! But you are right the narrative possibilities are endless ;o) Hope your weekend is going well.
Yo Dog...I'm officially a fan of your BW conversions. I like your work, I like your artistic eye. I like the overall feel I get from your work but I often don't know how to react. In this case the reserved parking lot; I did a similar thing in a parkinglot a few years ago. I used an empty basket with a red hanckerchief
. Some cultures here speak of some sort of Voodoo or something. Next time I'll think of this perticular shot of yours. Just like I was thinking of your work when I did the BWC on my last post. Take care man. Keep up the good work! or hobby
blackdog: Not really one for the archive - it was just something I saw on the way back to the car and then realised the car park was full - people just wouldn't park there! Will pop over and take a look at your bwc ;o)
One for the psychologists to ponder and way beyond my GCSE in the subject!!
Somehow I get this feeling Chad would have parked here!
blackdog: You had best ask him ;o) But my guess is he would - or photographed it every hour for a week ;o)
cool sticks.
blackdog: heheh thanks ;o)
It looks like one of those markers left by either tramps or gypsies.
You should have watched a while, and caught the expressions of drivers who spotted it
blackdog: Yes I am guessing it was fear of gypsies that kept people away - we were just leaving so hanging aroud for just one more shot was the best I could wangle ;o)
Yeah Mike: but he's just weird!
blackdog: Thanks Chris - but I would take weird as a compliment ;o)
There is definitely more than one way to skin the cat, Mike, and if anyone knows that, it is Chad!
blackdog: I somehow don't about Chad's cat skinning skills - but he seems to agree with you - see below ;o)
I like your reply to Bill and yes i would photograph it every hour for a week.
Ginnie seems to know my cat skinning skills well and it's hard saying that let alone writing IT. hartelikje groeten
blackdog: Yes I could tell you were impressed by the Martin Parr collection compulsion. If you have one you must havve them all - and if not that then the same one an infinite number of times.
Martin Parr, eat your heart out! I love this one too - I can quite see how it would appeal to Chad. I think a series is in order.
Ingrid
blackdog: No Martin Parr - no shot. I would never have even thought about it without his example - give me his early B&W stuff anyday though ;o)
would YOU have parked here Mike?
