Very nice black & white. Love the details and textures.
blackdog: Thanks Laura ;o)
Ahhhhh. Paris. I'm gonna love this, Mike!
blackdog: I hope you are not disappointed - it's my own particular tourist view I am afraid ;o)
The Devil and the Good God, which one will we pick, you spotted this very well, I hope you will stay for a few days in Paris, a city I love very much, the B&W is very well chosen here, I would not have acpected different from you. I love this scene, so much to see and so well balanced, I am on your tour too
blackdog: Thanks Astrid - staying untill the end of the week. Hope the tour isn't too unusual for you ;o)
Make it a long series Mike. richard
blackdog: A week long is the plan, hopefully not too predicable!
Great shot and what a fabulous subject ... looking forward to more ..
blackdog: Thanks John, there will be more, but different ;o)
Strange b&w affect you have given this, Mike.
blackdog: Trying to simulate the effect of using chemicals to bleach the highlights in old prints. Shhot neutral, print dark, then bleach highlights.
This looks like a vintage print. Paris - isn't it about time we went again? I can feel a Cartier Bresson moment coming on!
Ingrid
blackdog: That was the aim - vintage look, upset by the contemporary advertising and tow away warning. Paris is always good ;o)
Great capture. I like the myterious atmosphere you ceated here! I am looking forward to see more of your Paris shots!
blackdog: Thanks Richard ;o)
great ambiance the B&W creates
blackdog: Thanks Chantal - one of my favourite cities ;o)
Interesting but a bit contrasty Mike
blackdog: Deliberate ploy I am afraid - so all boils down to taste, although too much boiling = no taste ;o)
This has a very old-time feel to it, perhaps with the exception of the towing enforced sign. Very good capture of atmosphere!
blackdog: Thanks Martin ;o)
a fine street shot...
blackdog: Thanks Sam ;o)
I'm feeling frustrated that the thing in the foreground is obscuring the more interesting building in the background...or is that the point you are making?
blackdog: No point to make really Bill other than that I liked the choice between the devil and the "good" god on the advertising thingy. Typically Parisian scene simple as that. Sorry about the building ;o( will have to see what I have ;o)
Clever black and White with a Sartre reference
blackdog: Thank you ;o)
Strong, very much 'in your face' sort of effect. Like it
blackdog: Thanks Ellie ;o)
Un joli aperçu de Paris
So Paris has pinched another idea from Southport then, we have these public information points, or PIPs as they are known in Southport. It was rumoured that Napoleon 2 had the Paris Boulevards designed after he had seen Lord Street in Paris.
Like the picture as well, especially he B&W presentation. |
