It stands out against the dramatic sky like something from a Stephen King Novel. No good is going to come of staying there!
blackdog: Thanks Bill - perhaps I should send them a copy for their brochure ;o)
Spooky! The word that comes to mind is 'brooding'....I agree, definitely like something from a Stephen King nove. Awesome shot.
blackdog: Thanks Jessie - it is something I strive for in my work so pleased with the comment ;o)
This to me could be the first shot of a horror movie, great one, love your point of view, the atmosphere is real creepy, I know somebody is watching me from the 12th window from the left and than the third floor.....I think I will just keep on walking and not minding the foorsteps I hear behind me in the dark alley, yes the one where the lights are gone....I should have taken a different street.....
blackdog: Thanks Astrid - someone is always watching ;o) Now it is more likely to be a surveillance camera though than James Stewart and Grace Kelly ;o) Not to worry you can always outrun them ;o)
Great dramatic image. I like the way you capture the light!
blackdog: Thanks Richard ;o)
This is phenomenal, Mike. Is your phoitography improving or is it down to cropping and manipulation with photoshop?
blackdog: Certainly not manipulation as I rarely do any other than correct the exposure if needed - perhaps just finding a fresh seam to mine, underlying concepts are pretty constant. Thanks anyway ;o)
Bet their bookings will be down if this gets into the local tourist brochure. I reckon this is pretty good and could be a still from a moody film. Maybe lightening and rain at night isn't needed. ;-) richard
blackdog: LOL so you don't think I should send the a copy then ;o) Thanks Richard.
superb scene and superbly composed the contrast and tones are wonderful Mike
blackdog: Thanks Tim, praise indeed ;o)
looks really prison-like... great contrast...
blackdog: LOL. Yes it does doesn't it, and the beach is the exercise yard ;o)
I dunno what you've done to this to make it so powerful but whatever it is - I'm jealous of it!
blackdog: Nothing really Chris - the wide angle increases the drama, but it is the combination of a dark sky behind the buildings and low sun behind me just dropping below the cloud cover to light up the facia.
Even though I know where this is, those blank windows and that brooding sky really do look spooky. This does look like something out of an American horror movie!
Ingrid
blackdog: Thanks Ingrid - I think knowing it's harmless setting just enhances the latent character of the building...
Great drama and contrasts...
