Double Helix

Has this building been genetically engineered?
Good to see you back!!
blackdog: Thanks Bill ;o) It is the back of a grade 1 listed building in Bath so unless the Georgians were ahead of their time, I think it is a bit of modern tinkering.
UTTER RUBBISH.
These are words that I never have to use with your images, Mike. Welcome back. I am intrigued by the tree in the foreground. It sort of enhances yet irritates at the same time.
blackdog: Quite agree, but that's all I've got! I certainly found the tree most irritating, but also necessary. The patches of sunlight coming through the leaves make it look quite strange.
genetic engineering at it's finest used to produce cloned housing!
Hello, Mike. Hope all is progressing well with you!
blackdog: I think the original has been severely tampered with here. The fire escape and sash windows with two panes (original would have had side smaller panes) are straight out of the health ans safety rule book. Rest assured the front still looks very Georgian.
A few mid PhD blues, but making progress of sorts. Thank you ;o)
Helter skelter sprung to mind Mike.Nice to see you back.
blackdog: Fine track, but unfortunately stolen by Charlie Manson...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Manson ... or perhaps you were just thinking of the fairground attraction ;o)
Hey, welcome back Rover. Well observed Mike.
blackdog: Woof woof...
...just seeing if I can cope. Thanks Ian
Hey Mike. Are you back for good, or just for a visit?
From a professional point of view, it's funny to see a stair with windows instead of doors as a means of egress. No doubt a building code violation!
blackdog: Starting off with a trial and seeing how I cope...
Unusual to see a fire escape on one of these Geogian grade one listed buildings at all. It must contain government offices and I suspect the widows have been changed to facillitate access. Knocking through doors would not have got past the conservationists - so health and safety must have had their arm twisted ;o) The front still looks fabulous... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Circus_(Bath)
'Tis the tree of life climbing up a Bath building!
blackdog: Sorry Chis, just found this comment ;o) How right you are - between Victoria Park and the Circus.
Damn .... i have taken just such a shot down in suffolk and called it double helix as well. I'll post it in a years time when everyone has forgotten yours. Good to see you are rejuvenated.
richard
blackdog: Ha - hi Richard, are you returning to the fold too? I think you can safely post it now, I am trying to keep a fairly low profile so this wasn't seen by many.
Mike, it is a little late to say maybe....welcome back....
I googled Helix....now I understand more... I love the shadows and yes like Viktor said....but I wouldn't mind climbing out of the window in case of emergency....
blackdog: Hello Astrid
Just found your trail of comments ;o) Thank you - I will save them up and try and answer one per day. The stairs certainly beat knotting sheets together - but surely for someone of your nautical skills that wouldn't present a problem ;o) |
