photoblog image Helter Skelter

Helter Skelter

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and then I go for a ride

Helter Skelter

The Beatles recorded the song multiple times during sessions for The White Album. During the 18 July 1968 sessions, a version of the song lasting 27 minutes and 11 seconds was recorded, this version is reported to be rather slow and hypnotic and I would love to hear it if anyone out there has it available.

Oh, I like this nostalgic, finley glittering picture of the amusements (I usually hate)- in Brighton as I suppose - just for the oldies a reminder of the Beatles times - 1968ff.: for German and French young people a particularly important time of some 'revolutions' or 'Holterdiepolter'/Helter Shelter...
blackdog: Many memories for me too - I kept my distance from the political struggles though - too unsure of my own identity at the time.

Wasn't this song prompted by the Manson killings on 1967 Mike. I've never heard of the other version. Wki says:

blackdog: Other way round Chris - Mad Charlie took the lyrics as a call to arms for his sect.

You might find this link interesting Mike

I like the picture too
blackdog: I found it very interesting Bill - but it gets me no nearer to hearing it. As one of the comments suggests on the blog, we are just going to have to kidnap Paul and make him hand over the recording!
Absolutely love it! Great image smile
blackdog: Thanks Linda ;o)
almost looks spooky. great b&w smile
blackdog: Thanks Charles ;o)

Positioned just right to slide off the end of the pier, one way to get rid of the little terrors.
blackdog: Haha - that is just what I thought ;o)

I like this one a lot. The pepperpot shape of ther helter skelter is like a glowing life form (Dalek?) at the end of thegloomy pier.
blackdog: Thanks Ian - probably the pick of the day and the pier was well worth the visit ;o)

A fine composition. I love the way it seems to glow against the darkening sea and sky.
blackdog: Thanks Ingrid - probably the best from the day.
