Bank Holiday

Just to prove it didn't rain all the time!  Apologies for the lack of sharpness, shot with a compact from a long way away!

OH WOW! Look at all the stories, Mike. I'm immediately drawn to the boy doing somersaults! smile
blackdog: It's always amazing how much you can pick up from body language - thanks Ginnie

this is iconic
blackdog: Why thank you Jude - beats my usual mood - ironic ;o)
I think this is fabulous. No apologies required. I wish I had taken it!
blackdog: Now that is always the biggest compliment Bill. South Bank by the Thames.

Love the giant armchairs. Great shot even with a compact. Wish I'd taken mine with me now! As Ginnie says, there are so many stories going on.
Ingrid
blackdog: Yes it always pays to have some kind of camera with you - I wish mine had been a better one!
Fabulous capture Mike. As Ingrid says, there are many stories going on here!
blackdog: Thanks Richard - certainly packed with fine examples of body language.

All of life is there Mike, even with a compact. No need for apologies, well seen.
blackdog: Thanks Les - always pays to have some kind of camera - you just never know ;o)

BANK holiday.....well than I assume that your word 'bank' is our word 'bank' which is couch....translated in English, confused??
Love the very relaxed attitude of the people, great shot again.
blackdog: Ah yes - the English "Bank Holiday" - we have two, the spring bank holiday on the last Monday in May and the August Bank holiday at the end of.... yep August! It has a literal meaning - in other words even the Banks are closed.

Glad you liked the pic in any case ;o)
Superb shot, so well seen, and the genius is in removing the colour which renders the ground as a flat canvas. which, along with the almost complete lack of shadows makes this just like a Lowry painting. Wonderful!
blackdog: Thank you David - the B&W certainly denies the depth but I must admit I didn't think of Lowry (although I know his work well)

At last. Goedeavond Mike. Well worth the wait for one great shot. Interesting effect this creates, Mike and I am one over for b&w in this case. Sort of anthropological view.
blackdog: Sorry - I refuse to post any old carp and I am afraid I have been taking a lot of dull fish recently. The research is going well though - I guess I cannot have it all! Thought you would like this one - a photo that becomes a flat painting.

So much to look at. You could take tons of crops and they would each be a story! Really, really terrific capture. Where exactly was this?
blackdog: Thank you Karina - it is taken from Waterloo Bridge in London looking down on the South Bank of the Thames, outside the National Theatre. Don't know why they had put down the astroturf on the concrete, but it was certainly popular ;o)

Excellent capture. I like the absurdity of all these people sitting around without any apparent purpose smile
blackdog: Thanks Martin - isn't that what people always do ;o) Somehow I don't see this working in downtown Housston though ;o)

Love this!!!
It captures REAL life. Odd to see the big armchairs in the middle.
blackdog: Thank you Marcie - some kind of Alice in Wonderland vibe perhaps - it was all very odd, but immensely popular on a Sunny day. It's usually just concrete.
